International Studies STEM Degrees Offered

A growing trend in engineering education is "internationalizing" study abroad for STEM students who have traditionally been under-represented in these programs.  One such program is offered at Northern Arizona University, where students get a B.S. in a STEM subject, and a B.A. in a foreign language (Chinese, French, German, Japanese, or Spanish), spend their fourth year abroad to study and participate in an internship, and return for their fifth year at NAU, all at a cost not much in excess of the 4-year program.  The Valparaiso International Engineering Program has a similar approach.  For more information, visit Globalizing STEM Degree Programs .

"Engineering Education in a Global Context" Theme of ASEE Pacific Southwest Section April Conference

The American Society for Engineering Education Pacific Southwest Section Conference will be held at the Bourns College of Engineering at UC Riverside on 18-20 April 2013; the theme will be "Engineering Education in a Global Context."  The conference is designed to "present and share innovative tools and best practices in addressing the challenges of Engineering Education in a changing world, with particular emphasis in expanding pathways to meet future needs and demands globally. US-Russian Collaborative Science Effort Proposals Sought by 8/31/11

The State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs is seeking proposals from public and private 501(c)(3) organizations using connective technology to increase scientific collaboration between US and Russian secondary schools.  The "US-Russia Virtual Science Challenge for Youth" should incorporate private and public partnerships and existing networks.  Proposals are due by 31 August 2011.  For more details, visit http://exchanges.state.gov/grants/open2.html .
