Lancaster MPAF STEAM Scholarship Essays Due 10/1/15

The Lancaster Museum and Public Art Foundation is accepting essay submissions for a new STEAM scholarship.  Open to high school juniors and seniors throughout the Antelope Valley, the 500-650 word essays will address the topic: "How art and technology will impact the future of the Antelope Valley."  Submissions, due by October 1, 2015,  will be judged on their demonstration of skills in writing, critical thinking and creativity.  The winner will receive a $500 scholarship and a tour of ABC 7 television studio.  The student and his/her family will be honored at the October 17, 2o15 MOAH gala.

NASA Youth Art Competition Entries Due 10/21/12

NASA is among the sponsors for the Humans in Space Youth Art Competition.  Students aged 10-18 years are encouraged to submit entries in visual, literary, musical or video categories about how humans in the future will use STEM skills to explore space.  An international panel of judges will determine the winners, whose work will be featured in various media globally.  The theme for the competition is "Be Inspired, Creative and Heard."  Entries are due by 21 October 2012. NASA-ISTE Magnetosphere Project Applications Due By 1/15/12

NASA is partnering with ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) to select 25 middle and high school teachers to "work collaboratively  to create learning and educational artifacts that teachers or students can use to gain a deeper understanding of the Earth's magnetosphere."  Projects may be presented at an upcoming ISTE conference and/or published on the NASA website.  Applicants (teachers from any content area) should have experience in and be interested in using social media tools, as well as be willing to create and test artifacts related to the mission.  A Learning Lab for the project will run beginning 6 February 2012.
