In a September 2010 on-line poll of 1,000 teens by Intel and Penn Schoen Berland, 99% agreed that math and science are important, but only 10% felt that the US is tops in those disciplines. Many believed that lack of discipline and work ethic in the US was the reason for the lack of primacy.
