Free "Toothpaste With A Twist" Workshop and Tour on 2/19/14

Women in Mining invites High Desert Educators to a special workshop that will provide teachers with all the tools necessary to teach your students about products that use locally-mined natural minerals directly or products that are made from minerals, such as toothpaste! Teachers will learn how to make a “marketable” toothpaste and investigate minerals such as calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate, common ingredients in commercial toothpastes. Participants will receive a kit to take back to the classroom to share this fun and investigative activity with their students.

This workshop includes a 30 minute walking tour of the CEMEX River Plant Facility. Closed toed shoes are required.
