The Science, Mathematics & Research for Transformation (SMART) scholarship for service program, was created by the Department of Defense to increase the number of civilian scientists and engineers working at DoD laboratories. It is open to students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in aeronautical or astronautical engineering, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering, to receive a full scholarship and gainful employment upon graduation.
